Community Crime Prevention

This is the first in a series of crime prevention suggestions offered to you by the Milton-Freewater Police Department. Citizens have growing concern over the rate of crime in our city, and have expressed a desire to have some general safety and prevention tips published as a service to our community.

Marie Dorion Park

Located just south east of town this park was once home to the original Milton Power Plant.  Located next to the Walla Walla River this park is a quiet place to visit.  There is one shelter area that can be rented (no water or counter tops – see rental facilities page), restrooms (seasonally open and maintained), swings, picnic tables.  This park is home to the steps of the Pioneers, which you can see our many local pioneers’ names on while you make the climb up the hill to the memorial marker above the park.

Rotary Sports Complex

Consisting of two little league/softball fields or as one soccer field this facility is highly used from spring through fall.  A restroom (seasonal) facility is available.

To reserve this field please complete the Recreational Facility Use Request Form and return to the Public Works Office. Click here for the form.

Morello Park

One of our lesser known parks this small ‘pocket park’ has a small play area and a fenced grassy area.  There are no facilities at this location.

Memorial Field

An open field area that is fenced and can be used for tee ball and/or youth soccer.  Restroom (seasonal) facilities are available at the nearby Rotary Sports Complex field.

To reserve this field please complete the Recreational Facility Use Request Form and return to the Public Works Office. Click here for the form.

Community Department

The Community Development Department of the City is headed by City Manager Linda Hall.  Other members are Mike Watkins, Supervisor, Gina Hartzheim, City Planner and Laurel Sweeney, Assistant.

Freewater Park

Most highly referred to as the “skate park” this park is located just off North Main at NE 8th Avenue.  We have a playground area, picnic tables, seasonal restrooms (March/April – October) and this park is home to the skate park!

Yantis Park

There are dozens of towering trees to provide shade in the spring and summer, plus beautiful color in the fall. There are picnic tables, clean restrooms, a children's play area, and (during the summer) a fun swimming pool/waterpark. There is also a walking trail that surrounds the park - perfect for a leisurely stroll. For the more adventurous, there is a steep uphill climb to a hilltop that provides a scenic vista of the area. There are three covered shelters for use and two ball fields and horseshoe pits.
