Snow Removal
THE CITY GENERALLY BEGINS PLOWING SNOW WHEN:
- Snow reaches an accumulation over 6”.
- Snow that has high moisture content such as “wet, heavy snow” is more of an issue than that of low moisture content.
- Priority routes are plowed first. It is our priority to keep arterials and emergency service routes open. Priority routes are (in no particular order)
- The North and South business districts and hills.
- Then main arterials such as Broadway Ave, Elizabeth St, NE 8th Ave, NE 5th Ave, NE 10th Ave, SE 15th Ave, S. Mill St.
- Schools
HOW YOU CAN HELP OUT:
- Please leave plenty of room between vehicles and snow plows, backhoes, sanding trucks. They tend to make frequent stops, turns and back-ups.
- If possible, park cars and keep garbage cans (if it is not your collection day) off the streets.
- Keep the sidewalks in front of your property cleared of snow and ice.
- Clear a path to your mailbox.
We thank you in advance for your patience during inclement weather. Questions can be directed to the Public Works Department at (541)938-8270, 8272, 8274.
