Health Survey
Beginning August 31st, some citizens in Umatilla County (to include citizens of Milton-Freewater) may be contacted at their doorstep by interviewers from the Centers for Disease Control. You may be contacted asking that you participate in a health questionnaire/survey. This particular health study has been occurring for the last 55 years, and is a federally funded project, intended to help identify and ascertain general health and health concerns of U.S. citizens, thereby aid in formulating public health policy.
This is a legitimate study, and the interviewer who knocks on your door should be wearing an official Centers for Disease Control identification card. If you do not readily see this card, please ask and verify. It should be noted that participation in this survey is strictly voluntary, and all information gleaned is for statistical purposes only. No personally identifiable information about you will be shared with anyone.
All that said, we suggest that you pay close attention to what is asked on the survey. Most of the questions should be generally health related. If any information is asked regarding finances, such as account numbers, financial institution information, etc., beware. Your social security number will be asked for, as part of the vital statistics component of this survey. Giving your social security number however is optional. In fact, every question on the survey is optional as to whether you answer or not.
It is worth mentioning that participation in this survey is recommended and sanctioned by the Umatilla County Health Department Director, Mr. James Setzer.
If you have a concern regarding being contacted by someone claiming to be an interviewer, the Milton-Freewater Police Department has been provided a list of the names of all the interviewers who may be contacting citizens. You may of course call and find out if the person with whom you are talking is on that list.
The list of Interviewers can be found below:
