PUBLIC WORKS ROTATING CREW MEMBER (RCM)

Position: PUBLIC WORKS ROTATING CREW MEMBER (RCM) FULL TIME
Salary: Salary range $17.43 - $21.18 hourly
Duties:
Works under the supervision of the Public Works Superintendent or Public Works Supervisor. Performs a variety of manual, unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the general construction and maintenance of city water, sewer, street, parks and solid waste facilities; recycling; operates automotive and power equipment. Does related work as required.
Qualifications:
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and act upon them accordingly. Ability to safely operate all equipment and follow safety rules; knowledge of appropriate tools, equipment, methods, materials and procedures used in recycling used materials. Ability to perform strenuous manual tasks such as lifting and carrying up to 65 pounds of material frequently on normal shift, and to withstand exposure to variable weather conditions. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees and the general public. Must be willing to work weekends and occasional holidays. Possession of a valid driver’s license, preferably with a class B CDL endorsement. It is the expectation of this position that the employee is required to be physically present at work.
Experience and Training:
Some experience in general maintenance. The successful candidate will have a diverse background in many areas of several public works operations, as this position rotates among the parks, solid waste, water, streets and sewer crews. Graduation from high school or equivalent GED certificate. Any other satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training which insures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above.
Method of Selection:
Evaluation of the candidate’s background from application form. Only those applicants who appear best qualified as determined by a screening committee will be interviewed. However, the City of Milton-Freewater reserves the right to not fill this position, reject all applicants, and reopen the position or make a direct appointment.
