PART-TIME LIBRARY ASSOCIATE

Position: PART-TIME LIBRARY ASSOCIATE
Salary: $15.98 to $19.48 hourly
Duties: Performs paraprofessional, technical and other duties related to the operation of a public library. Must be able and willing to work evenings and Saturdays on a regular basis. This position averages 17 hours per week.
Qualifications: Basic knowledge or ability to learn the organization of library materials employing the Dewey Decimal Classification system and the Anglo-American cataloging rules; learn the duties of cataloging and operating the public access catalog; the principles of selecting library materials, the ability to evaluate materials, and basic understanding of library collection development; ability to learn interlibrary loan procedures. Ability to perform basic reference interviews and searches; ability to learn, troubleshoot and assist library patrons with a variety of electronic devices and programs; plan, organize and conduct library-related activities.
Experience and
Training: Graduation from high school or GED, or a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training. Experience with serving the public is very important, as well as the ability to be a cohesive and supportive teammate.
Method of
Selection: Evaluation of candidate’s background from application form. Those applicants who appear best qualified as determined by a screening committee will be interviewed.
